Houseboats on Zambezi

Hi, we are a family of 4 (2 adults + 10 / 12 year old boys) who are wanting to go on a houseboat (nothing too fancy as cost way over the top) from Livingstone. we have flown over and seen boats moored on the side of the river - are these houseboats? I know there are a few up near kasane, but are they ALL super luxurious or are they more affordable ones and also smaller ones for 4 of us.

We are wanting to travel 20-25 June (3 nights in a houseboat and 2 nights at a hotel).

Are you able to help me with suggestions.

Hi Suzie

The boats that you see moored along the bank of the Zambezi are cruise boats for the sunset cruises etc. Certainly on the Zimbabwe side as far as I know, none of them are houseboats for hire.
The navigable stretch of river for such a large vessel is very limited, that's why small boats are used for going amongst the islands etc. The large cruise boats stick to one small section.

Sorry can't help, I will keep and ear out for anything suitable and let you know.
