Opening Hours Supermarkets

by Martina
(Zurich, Switzerland)

Hi Boo and Tony,
I have a simple but quite important question:
We are planning a camping holiday in Zimbabwe and will arrive at Vic Falls airport on a Saturday around noon.
After taking over the rental 4x4 we would then need to buy the necessary food for the first couple of days. Are supermarkets open on Saturday afternoons (or even Sundays) by any chance?
Many thanks and warm regards from Switzerland!

Supermarkets
by: Tony

Hello Martina

The supermarkets are open all day Saturday and certainly Sunday morning but maybe the whole day. You have 2 big ones to choose from OK and TM and then there are a couple of smaller corner store ones like 7/eleven in the Phumula center and Little
Harrods in the residential area along Reynard road.
If you want to buy meat, the best place at this stage is Outspan butchery in the industrial area, you will need to ask anyone for directions.

Advice and Info regarding Vic Falls

by Mariam
(Durban South Africa)

Hi Tony

I am from the beautiful city of Durban in South Africa. My husband, two kids(aged 2 and 6 years) and I are arriving at Vic Falls on the 9th January 2011 for a 4 night stay.
We will be staying at the Kingdom Hotel.I would like to know about the Guided Vic Falls tour and the Bridge tour. How long do they last for?.
My reason for asking is due to the age of our kids. Also how easy or difficult is it to walk these tours bearing kids in mind?
Do the guided tours/pathways allow for prams/strollers? I have read thru the activities section however is there anything specifically aimed at children?
I would like to know where would it be possible to source "HALAAL" food.

Lastly taking into consideration that we are staying for 4 nights, the ages of our kids and the wealth of knowledge and experience that u posses regarding Vic Falls, can you come up with an Itinerary for us.

Thanx

halaal a disaster

mariam

tony's guide to the falls is excellant , u dont need a tour guide just take a copy of his guide with you, i think it teaches you more than a guide will say.
the kids will surely enjoy the elephant safari most activities are not for kids under 12 and under 1.5m high, my daughter went on her own and she is 11 , so the companies are reliable and responsible. obviously i signed an indemnity.

halaal food is a big problem, we have just returned most saddenned that we had to cut our holiday short due to a wedding.

call me so i can share some info with you on halaal and where you can eat 0828584980

thanks

Good Day Tony & Boo

On the Restaurants Front, we wanted to know if there is a mechanism in place for businesses to further market themselves on your website especially these Independent Restuarants in the local town of Victoria Falls. What can the costs be like as well the requirements if ever such a service is available?
