Visa costs x2 to visit the Falls?

Hi there, thanks for putting together a great website!

I was intending to self drive from Botswana to Vic Falls, then cross over to Livingstone and drive to Katima Mulilo. But I just realised that I would be paying well over $100 dollars in visa fees! Ouch!

Do you know of any short-term visa options to Zambia or Zimbabwe that would allow a visit to both sides, but without having to pay such crazy visa costs? (I have a UK passport). I understand there is a day visa for Zambia, but then I must already have a multi-entry visa from the Zimbabwe consulate, I believe.

Any suggestions? Maybe I should just visit one side of the falls??

Hi

Sorry not much you can do about this, there are no alternatives to the visas, and they really like to charge the UK passports, if you were on an SA passport it wouldn't cost you anything.

Zim side single entry is US$55 and double UD$70. even if you leave Zim for an hour you will need a new visa to get back in again. Its best to buy these at the port of entry unless you need to get a multiple entry which you can only get from the embassy's.

Zambian side US$50 single entry and US$80 double entry or the day tripper if you are there for less than 24hrs.

In my opinion, and I know from a lot of others aswell, if you have seen the falls from the Zimbabwe side its not necessary to go through to Zambia, unless you are going for another specific reason, like to visit some of their magnificent national parks.

Don't forget that you have to pay for your vehicle as well.
