(Updated) The "Milk Run" Returns

(Victoria Falls)

20 May 2022 (Updated 23 June 2022)

Zimbabwe now has a new airline covering major tourism hotspots in the country. Kuva Air launched in April 2022, just in time for the Victoria Falls Carnival, with it’s maiden Harare to Victoria Falls flight on April 29th 2022, with a full aircraft – a 30 seater Embraer EMB120 aircraft.

Kuva Air began the “Milk Run” on June 1st, with flights across the country between Harare, Kariba and Victoria Falls. These will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. They did mention that they would fly to Hwange and Bulawayo, but those flights are yet been implemented.

The running of these flights is a welcome change, as places like Kariba for years have only been accessible by road and charter flights. The prices of the flights will be more appealing for tourists who want to visit the different regions.

Harare to Victoria Falls flights start at US$170 per person (one way). FastJet and Air Zimbabwe also fly this route. This give them a bit of competition, which is always good for the customer.

Travel to Kariba will become much easier with three flights a week, and adding onto Victoria Falls and Hwange becomes a lot more affordable. Harare - Kariba flights will start at US$140 per person, and US$155 for Victoria Falls to Kariba, one way. This means easy access to Kariba houseboats and safari camps. It also makes adding on Mana Pools less of a pain by just adding a transfer by boat or a cheaper charter flight from Kariba.

Hwange, a firm favourite, is usually accessed by road transfer from Victoria Falls (or Bulawayo), or by charter. If they do end up doing flights from Victoria Falls to Hwange, it will take a much shorter time than a 2- to 4-hour road transfer to get to the largest wildlife park in the country.

Apart from being the second-largest city in Zimbabwe, Bulawayo is just 30 minutes away from Matobo Hills National Park, which is also a popular destination. If they do end up flying to Bulawayo, it makes quick trips to the various destinations much easier with Matobo Hills.

We are very excited about this new development, along with the other new flights that have been introduced into Victoria Falls.
