Rebuilding of The Lookout Cafe To Commence
5 March 2019 The reconstruction of the Lookout Cafe from the ashes is set to begin as designs are already in place for the new and improved restaurant on the edge Batoka Gorge. "The new, African Contemporary styled Lookout Cafe, will be designed to emphasize our panoramic view of the Victoria Falls Bridge and Batoka Gorges. The rebuild is infused with Wild Horizons conservation ethos, and in order to make the Cafe more environmentally friendly, all wooden decks will be replaced with composite decking. The thatch will be replaced with a chromadek roof." - Wild Horizons The cafe was adored by locals and visitors alike, not only for the fabulous food and drinks, but for it's location which gave visitors amazing views of the gorge, the Zambezi River rapids roaring below, as well as the historic Victoria Falls Bridge and spray of the Victoria Falls themselves in the distance. The Lookout Cafe was devastated in a fire last Christmas Eve. Fortunately, nobody was injured and there were no casualties. The owners have taken this incident as an opportunity to improve on the cafe from the ground up. "Our aim is to improve on the much-loved Wild Horizons Lookout Cafe and turn the unexpected tragedy into an opportunity for enhancement." The expected date of completion has been set to some time in May of this year, but the actual date is yet to be confirmed. "While we have not confirmed an official reopening date, we are accepting provisional bookings from July onwards, as we hope to be open well before then".
