The high speed jetboat launched earlier this year has now closed for low season a month earlier than expected because of the very low levels of the Zambezi River this year.

The activity is supposed to break in October and November since the Zambezi River below the Falls tends to be too low. Operations should resume in December. However, if the water levels do not improve, the start of the new season will have to be delayed until further notice.

Because the region through which the river runs did not get good rains last season, the Zambezi River is experiencing lower than usual water levels for this time of the year.

The jetboat experience begins with a decent into the gorge to the jetty under the Victoria Falls Bridge, and then a good 45 minutes of high speed rips up and down the river between the Boiling Pot and Rapid #2.

The good news is that you can still take whitewater rafting trips down in the gorge for an equally thrilling adventure while you are in Victoria Falls.
