Victoria Falls Cricket Stadium under construction
Victoria Falls is officially locked in as a marquee venue for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, with three high-profile matches scheduled to be played in the resort city. Co-hosted by Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Namibia, the tournament will bring global cricket showpieces to one of the world's most spectacular natural wonders, including thrilling group-stage finale featuring Zimbabwe versus India.
The Mosi-oa-Tunya Cricket Stadium
The centerpiece of Victoria Falls cricket will be the purpose-built Mosi-oa-Tunya Cricket Stadium (officially the Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium). Situated within the government’s Masuwe Special Economic Zone on the outskirts of the city, the ground sits just a few kilometres from the Victoria Falls themselves.
Timeline and Construction Milestones
Following a ceremonial groundbreaking in May 2024, construction on the project is scheduled for completion in late 2026. Funded entirely by Zimbabwe Cricket with a budget of US$12 million, the stadium will boast an anticipated seating capacity of 10,000. Following final construction milestones, the venue is expected to announce its inaugural domestic and first-class matches ahead of the world cup cricket Victoria Falls fixtures.
