Wild Horizon Trust Re-habilitates Spotted Eagle-Owl

Spotted Eagle-Owl
When a Spotted Eagle-Owl was found grounded beside the road between Victoria Falls and the Botswana border, it was clear something wasn’t right. These powerful nocturnal birds usually take to the air with ease – but this one couldn’t fly. Thankfully, a kind couple who spotted the owl realised it was injured. They turned their car around, gently secured it, and brought it back to Victoria Falls to make sure it received the care it needed. At the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust High-Care Rehabilitation Centre, located on the Wild Horizons Estate just outside of town, the veterinary team quickly began treatment. Since then, the owl has been closely monitored and assessed. The good news is that it’s already showing encouraging signs of recovery. It has been moved into a larger flight enclosure, where it’s now perching and managing short flights again – an important step towards regaining its strength and eventually returning to the wild. The work that the Trust does for stressed and injured wildlife is truly outstanding, and it’s something we greatly admire and fully support. Thank you from the Vic Falls Guide Team.
