Elephants Cross Victoria Falls Bridge

by Clive Goodrich

Hi Once More,

My friends and I, now in our teens and working managed to "acquire " a V W beetle which gave us the opportunity to visit the Victoria Falls almost every day. (remember at that time Petrol was 1 shilling and 9 pence a gallon, and so was a packet of 50 cigarettes)

Livingstone had it's own weekly newspaper which came out on Fridays.

In one issue the head lines read ELEPHANTS CROSS THE BRIDGE.

There had been a large pile of elephant dung found in the centre of the bridge!!!! Little did the tourists or residents know that my mates and I collected the dung from the vicinity of the big tree and transported it in a vanette and dumped it in the centre of the bridge..

Till next time.

Regards,

Clive.
