26 January 2018

From 1st March 2018, guests to Bomani Tented Lodge and Camelthorn Lodge can now include a horse-riding safari during their stay - A first in the southern section of Hwange National Park. Imvelo Safari Lodges announced their partnership with Hwange Horseback Safaris to bring their guests even more bush experiences, this time on horseback.

Trips will range from novice/beginner level 1-hour horse safaris to full day expert level excursions, and take no more than 4 people at a time. So far, 5 different daily activities will be offered:

1. The Beginner Bush Experience
This mid-morning ride is for those who are only comfortable on a walk. It is approximately 1 hour long, taking riders into the savanna grassland, stopping for refreshments before heading back.

2. The Hippo Sunrise Ride
This 3-hour experience begins early in the morning, and is for experienced riders. Qualified and experienced guides will take you out on the Camelthorn Concession, with a tea break in between.

3. The Camelthorn Cultural Experience
This is a 5 1/2-hour safari plus cultural activity for intermediate riders, taking them through the Ngamo Plains and into Nganyana Village, where they participate in and learn about the villagers' way of life.

4. The Sundowner Ride
This 2-hour activity is for intermediate riders, and as the name suggests, is a ride through the bush with a break in time to watch the African sunset with drinks in hand.

5. Full Day Safari
Starting off after breakfast, this full day ride for experienced and fit riders goes through the private concessions of Camelthorn and Bomani, with a picnic lunch along the way.

The stables are located on the Camelthorn Concession, and so rides will start from Camelthorn Lodge. Guests at Bomani wanting to participate will get a 15-minute transfer to Camelthorn with no surcharge.

"The riding terrain near Bomani and Camelthorn is through the beautiful savanna grasslands of the Ngamo Plains and the landscape changes dramatically between the cool dryer winters and the warm humid summers. Hwange offers big game riding all year round". - Imvelo and Hwange Horseback Safaris.

Take advantage of the Pay for 2 Stay for 3 nights offered at both of these Hwange lodges, plus the excellent rail transfer into southern Hwange on the Elephant Express.
