Zambia Introduces Online Health Screening for All International Arrivals

Travellers entering Zambia are being reminded to complete an online health screening form before arrival, including visitors crossing from Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe or Chobe in Botswana.

This information was posted on the 20th October 2026

The Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI) has introduced an online health screening system for international travellers entering the country through its airports and land borders.

The system, known as POE Sentinel, replaces the paper-based health questionnaires previously completed at border crossings and airports. Travellers can now submit their information online before arriving in Zambia, making the entry process quicker and more convenient.

Which Border Crossings Are Affected?

The requirement applies to all international entry points into Zambia, including those commonly used by visitors to the Victoria Falls region:

  • Victoria Falls Bridge Border: For travellers crossing between Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, and Livingstone, Zambia.
  • Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport: For international visitors flying directly into Livingstone.
  • Kazungula Border: For travellers entering Zambia from Botswana, including those travelling from Chobe.

This is particularly relevant for visitors staying in Victoria Falls who plan to cross into Zambia for a day trip, perhaps to see the Falls from the Zambian side, visit Livingstone Island or enjoy other activities across the border.

How Does the Online Health Screening Work?

The process is straightforward and should only take a few minutes.

  1. Visit the official ZNPHI health screening portal at Zambia Online Health Screening Portal or scan the QR at the bottom of this page
  2. Complete the short questionnaire, including your journey's starting point, onward destination and countries visited during the previous 21 days.
  3. Submit the form to receive your personal QR health pass.
  4. Save the QR code on your phone as a screenshot or PDF.
  5. Present the QR code to the Port Health Officer for scanning when entering Zambia.

Can the Form Be Completed at the Border?

Yes. Travellers who have not completed the questionnaire beforehand can still do so at the health desk on arrival.

However, we recommend completing it before travelling, particularly if you are crossing the Victoria Falls Bridge or Kazungula Border, where queues can sometimes cause delays.

Having your QR code ready should help make the process quicker and easier.

Our Advice for Travellers

If you are planning to visit Zambia, even for just a few hours, we recommend completing the online health questionnaire before setting off.

The health screening is separate from Zambia's immigration and visa requirements, so travellers should still check whether they require a visa for entry.

As always, if you are booking activities or transfers through Victoria Falls Guide, we are happy to help you understand the practicalities of crossing between Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana.
