The Enduro in 2021 - Victoria Falls Enduro
8 November 2021 While known as Africa's Adventure capital, it's not just fabulous activities and safaris that you have to look forward to in Victoria Falls. The town always has some other events going on, some of which take place each year. Dubbed the biggest New Year's Eve party in the region, the Victoria Falls Carnival is usually held over 3 days at the end of December. Since Covid-19 lockdowns and restrictions, we missed out on 2020, and it looks like we will miss a 2021 instalment. However, the organisers recently announced that the next Vic Falls Carnival will be from 29th April to 1st May 2022. While we won't expect the same sort of "festive season" vibe, it would be a welcome break in routine during the second quarter of the year. A brand-new annual event happening in May 2022 is the Victoria Falls Trial run. This two-day fundraising event will cover 50kms of wilderness trail along the edge of the Zambezi River gorge. Runners can expect some spectacular scenery along the lower Zambezi River, plus a sunset cruise and dinner on the final day of the event. The much loved Vic Falls Marathon will not be happening this year either, but a provisional date of 3rd July 2022 has been posted on the organisers' website. The last marathon was held in December 2020 as a virtual run, and participants from all over the world got the chance to participate in their own areas. Other annual events - The Zambezi Cycle Challenge, the Enduro and the Whitewater Rafting Festival (in Zambia) went ahead this year, but without the usual numbers. The Hwange fundraiser Pumping Legs for Water also went virtual this year, with riders from around the world sending in their rides through their social media page @PLFWZ. Other than annual events, Victoria Falls also has a few once-off and community events, which are a great way to socialise with fun-loving local residents of the town.
