Introduction

The Masuwe River is a tributary of the Zambezi River, a few kilometres downstream from the Victoria Falls. This part of the Victoria Falls National Park offers an intimate retreat, peace and quiet. The Wallow Lodge is located along the Masuwe River on a private concession with 4,500 acres of wilderness, just 10 kms (a 20-minute drive) from the entrance to the Victoria Falls. It is the newest addition to Wild Horizon's portfolio of luxurious camps, which include Old Drift Lodge and Elephant Camp.

There are 16 tented rooms, all dotted along the banks of the Masuwe River. Each room is raised beneath the shade of ancient riverine trees, and from this elevated vantage point, guests can enjoy uninterrupted views of the river from their private balcony. The rooms offer comfort with air-conditioner and fan, a personal tea/coffee station, and a cosy lounge area. The rooms are hidden among a canopy of trees and boast an indoor and outdoor shower. From the vantage point of the elevated rooms, panoramic views of the Masuwe River create a sense of space and freedom.

The Wallow Lodge concession also includes breath-taking views of the Batoka Gorge. The Masuwe River runs in front of the lodge, gently meanders across the wild landscape, before plummeting 140 meters into the cavernous lips of the Gorge (a mere 5-minute drive from camp). The lodge offers scenic game drives on the concession which ends with sundowners at the gorge. Other activities included at the lodge are a guided tour of the Victoria Falls, and a visit to the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust. The bustling town of Victoria Falls is a short twenty-minute transfer from the lodge, giving guests the freedom to tailor-make their experience and find a balance between the exclusivity of the bush and the excitement of Africa's Adventure Capital.

Panoramic views of the Masuwe River form the backdrop of the main area, cleverly incorporating the unrushed rhythm of nature into the open plan design. There is an echo of the elements in the infinity pool and sunken fire-pit, both of which overlook the river from an expansive deck.

Customer Feedback

Brilliant service and so helpful
by Sally (Blisworth, U.K.)
I stumbled across Victoria Fall Guide by accident, but I am so glad I did. Tony and Boo were so helpful, advising us on the best activities for us as I have mobility issues, and arranging our itinerary and booking everything. I had no worries about using them, or sending a very large payment to someone I didn’t know. Everything they booked for us was so well organised, pick ups on time, knowledgeable and friendly guides, clean transport. We did the walking tour of the falls, the sunset dinner cruise, full day at Chobe, the team, lion encounter and the helicopter and every single one was faultless. We were also due to do the lunar rainbow but unfortunately it was cancelled, however boo arranged the refund immediately. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone. We are so grateful to them for making our special holiday even more so.
