Chobe River Lodge

Introduction

What used to be The Garden Lodge is now a beautifully renovated Chobe River Lodge. The lodge is located on the banks of the Chobe River, in the small town of Kasane, and offers a small and comfortable base to enjoy the fantastic game experience that the Chobe Safari area has to offer.

The thatched main lodge area houses the spacious guest lounge and dining area. Just outside the dining room is a rim flow swimming pool and wooden deck. The lodge is set in lush green gardens, home to a variety of birds and the occasional family of warthog and mongoose.

Chobe River Lodge has only twelve rooms all have a private veranda – some which open into the courtyard, and others on both lower and upper levels with a view down to the Chobe River.

All meals are served around one table offering opportunities to make new friends and share the days' activities.

The meals are home-cooked with fresh ingredients and sometimes a touch of local cuisine can be experienced.

The staff and management's small attention to detail and their guest needs ensures a great homely experience.

Activities at Chobe River Lodge focus on game viewing and include game drives into Chobe National Park, just 10 minutes away, and game cruises on the Chobe River.

Traditionally game drives are done in the early mornings, which is the best time to see the big cats before the heat of the day and boat cruises are in the afternoon. However, they like to be flexible and will try to work as much as possible to the guest's requests.

Our Opinion

In our opinion, Chobe River Lodge is a great option for guests wanting a small, intimate and homely experience rather than a big hotel or lodge. The price is right and we feel good value in comparison to other accommodation options in this location.

It is well-positioned, only 10 minutes from the National park entrance gate and the lush green gardens looking onto the Chobe River, add to its appeal.

The home-cooked meals, friendly staff and flexibility at the lodge in our mind offers the complete package - homely, comfortable accommodation, great value, with a good safari experience on your doorstep.

How to Get to Chobe River Lodge

• Self Drive's are welcome – head into Kasane town and follow the directions to Chobe River Lodge.
• They will collect and drop from Kasane Airport (BBK) – included in the price.
• Transfer from and back to Victoria Falls (VFA) Zimbabwe / Livingstone (LVI) Zambia can be arranged at an extra cost.
