Livingstone Lodge - Victoria Falls

Simple, affordable accommodation in a quiet part of town

Introduction

When you hear the name, you might think that the place is in the border town of Zambia, but Livingstone Lodge is actually in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. It is located in a very quiet area of town, and that is how they like to keep it. The place is meant to be restful and peaceful, and for that reason, they do not allow loud music and they do not take bookings for functions. There is an area in the garden that has been designated for quiet time.

Livingstone Lodge was refurbished and opened in December of 2013, and has gone through some more changes over time. It is very clean and although it does not have luxury amenities, guests feel quite comfortable for the amount of money that they pay at the lodge. It is located about 4km from the Victoria Falls. Transport to and from town has to be by local taxi. However, in the near future there will be shuttles to transport guests to town.

The rooms are fairly simple and all are en-suite – five are single rooms; three are standard double rooms; four are deluxe double rooms; two of the family rooms sleep 3 people (1 single bed and 1 extra long king size bed); the third family room sleeps up to 5 people (one double bed and 3 single beds). All rooms are equipped with electric fans. The family rooms and the deluxe double rooms also have flat screen TV. There are shelves in the rooms for storage as well.

Livingstone Lodge is a B & B which means that breakfast comes complimentary (at flexible times depending with the guests). Also on the house are soft drinks for the guests. There is a swimming pool in the garden, and poolside seating as well. As smoking is not permitted in the rooms, the garden is where guests may have a cigarette break.

The lodge has free wireless internet for guests. Guests are welcome to use credit cards or cash to pay for their stay.

The Lodge has implemented eco-friendly systems such as solar geysers for all the rooms, and recycling the bath and laundry water to water their plants.

Our Opinion

Livingstone Lodge is a privately owned B&B located about 4kms from town in the residential suburbs of Victoria Falls. Like most of the small lodges they do not offer shuttles into town but taxis can easily be arranged. Aimed at the budget traveller this is an ideal place for those not wanting anything fancy and are on a low budget. It's clean and comfortable and we highly recommend it for this price range.
