Introduction

Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge was the vision of Ron and Jean White back in 1988 when Imbabala Lodge was first built.

Their dream was of an unspoilt river wilderness lodge where guests rapidly became friends. The White family are legends in Victoria Falls, and their hearts are truly in the African bush.

The Lodge is situated on a 4000 acre private concession in the Matetsi Safari Area, only 80 kilometres upstream from Victoria Falls and not far from where the four countries of Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia meet.

Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge is beautifully positioned on a riverine fringe of the mighty Zambezi River shaded by ancient ebony trees, the main lodge is a charming thatched structure, consisting of a lounge, wildlife reference library with fireplace, dining room and cocktail bar. There is also a swimming pool with sun deck and poolside bar making it the perfect place for anyone to relax and unwind.

With 11 kilometres of Zambezi River frontage, Imbabala has some of the most amazing game viewing and bird watching opportunities in the region, all in the seclusion of a private National Parks concession. The concession borders the Chobe Forest Reserve which is renowned for its massive Elephant population - herds of up to 1500 elephants have been seen on the floodplains below the Imbabala Safari Camp!

Our Opinion

We like Imbabala because it is beautifully positioned on the banks of the Zambezi River, there is lots to do, and the Victoria Falls is just 80kms downstream.

Accommodation at Imbabala Safari Lodge

Imbabala Safari Lodge accommodates only 18 guests in stone and thatch chalets with private en-suite facilities. The chalets are individually and tastefully decorated all beautifully positioned with sweeping views on the Zambezi River. Each veranda has a comfy hammock in which you can relax and take in the spectacular view. What a way to spend a holiday!

The lodge has one family room, two double and six twin bedded chalets.

All rooms have:
• En-suite facilities with shower (only 2 rooms have both shower and tub)
• Ceiling fan
• Universal adaptors
• Tea/coffee-making facilities

Activities

• Exploring the Zambezi River by boat, affords guests exceptional bird-watching opportunities, birdlife is prolific and varied, ranging from water birds to shy forest dwellers. Many rare species such as the African Finfoot are found here - it is a bird lovers paradise. You will look on in amazement at the variety and action all around.
• Also on offer at Imbabala Safari Lodge is fishing for the renowned Tiger Fish (serious fisherman are advised to bring along their own Tackle). As is with the birding, this is one of the top spots on the Zambezi and their guides know just the spots to catch the big ones.

Customer Feedback

Brilliant service and so helpful
by Sally (Blisworth, U.K.)
I stumbled across Victoria Fall Guide by accident, but I am so glad I did. Tony and Boo were so helpful, advising us on the best activities for us as I have mobility issues, and arranging our itinerary and booking everything. I had no worries about using them, or sending a very large payment to someone I didn’t know. Everything they booked for us was so well organised, pick ups on time, knowledgeable and friendly guides, clean transport. We did the walking tour of the falls, the sunset dinner cruise, full day at Chobe, the team, lion encounter and the helicopter and every single one was faultless. We were also due to do the lunar rainbow but unfortunately it was cancelled, however boo arranged the refund immediately. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone. We are so grateful to them for making our special holiday even more so.
